Let's Hear It For The Boys....

Dear Bride:

We need to chat. You see- I am engaged as well... but I have been with MR. Oh Happy for about 6 years now- so I feel qualified to say what I am about to say. You are about to embark on nearly a century of small little squabbles between you and your fiance-turned-husband. He is going to bend relentlessly time and time again... and somewhere down the road you will become accustomed to this (or perhaps you already are)... but you must keep in mind that what you are signing up for is an equal relationship with times to play, times to fold, and times to bluff. The wedding will be the first of many many times where the two of you will feel that you are about to reach your breaking point- and so I give you my piece of advice:

Let him be a part of the day. I mean it. Let his personality show through in this wedding. This does NOT mean FORCING him to make decisions on flowers or invitations or other lovelies... This means letting him pick the menu- the band- the smelly cigar station that will make him so happy. Pick your battles wisely and ensure that he is just as much a part of this special day as you and your mother are... You've vested a fortune into the day- but it is nothing compared to the lifetime you are about to invest into him....

And with that... I give you one SMALL joy to toss his way... All via Etsy...{t:artbymags, kajagjedebo, keysandmemories/m:kpglassjewelry, luxedeluxe/b:numpty}

Danielle I agree! I've been with my FH for a very long time. We dated for 9 years before our engagement.

He's my very best friend and I truly believe that the wedding day is about "US"! That's why I'm having a game night theme, it's so indicative of who we are as a "couple" and he's having so fun planning all the events around this theme!

He's REALLY into it and he loves all the inspiration and ideas that I'm getting from my blogging friends!

Love the dice cufflings...

Couldn't agree more! My fiance and I will have been together almost 10 years by the time we get married. I think its so obvious when you go to a wedding & the groom looks like an innocent bystander in it all! And once you bring them into the decision making, they usually end up having a little fun...
